It's Friday.

 Top Five Reasons the Spirit Rover Quit Communicating
 
 5.  The Beagle woke up and hunted it down like the
     upstart colonist that it is. 
 
 4.  It is an artificially intelligent vehicle.  It looked around and
     finally realized where it is.  Now, it is very depressed.
 
 3.  It is waiting for the next rover to land on Saturday
     so it will have an Opportunity to date.
 
 2.  Use of Java.  It is indemnified but it wasn't optimized.
     The replacement code will take at least another
     cycle to release and even then, it won't be documented.
     The good news is Intel, HP and Sun have promised that
     the next version will be much faster.
 
 1.  Use of Open Source.  A thousand Martian eyes
     see the code and are debugging it, and that is
     just the lead programmer.
