It's an accurate reflection of how the majority of people use search. There are any number of drop downs and search qualifiers you could add, but people tend not to use them. So I guess it doesn't matter so much whether it's good or not since people won't use the rich stuff. Also bias, in a technical sense, is mostly impossible to remove from search (and learning) algorithms, you just need to be aware of what the bias is. An even more accurate representation of how people search, would be a search engine that only ever came back with 1-3 pages on a query.
