Vertical standards help to freeze semantics for a number of years.

It's not entirely clear how generalizable your observations are.. it
seems that when you get to more specialised industries, perhaps the
semantics do not change as dramatically as you made out. If my
semantics changes every 2 years, should I choose a "complex science"
over tools that work today?
