If anyone is interested in exploring relational and XML design more 
concretely, perhaps Mondial is a good place to start. Mondial is a nice 
concrete example of data modeled in XML, Oracle SQL, F-Logic, and Datalog. 
Much of the data is taken from the CIA World Factbook. There are several 
XML representations.
