I am not affiliated with this company, but want to
pass this along to anyone who wants to explore the
new X3D standard for real time 3D. Being a 3D junkie,
I love this one.

http://www.vizx3d.com/

has a beta editor out. It expires at the end of August,
but this [expletive deleted] is really loaded with features that the
VRML community worked out over time as being most productive.
Among the novel features of this editor, this one is neat
conceptually:

"Vizx3D provides a unique Vizx3D Trigger System that allows users to create
interaction logic by selecting Nodes, and selecting phrases to complete
sentences to describe the desired behavior."

It is a Windows application. The fellow who produced it, Keith Virtock,
also produced Spazz3D which was the best of the low-cost VRML editors.

If you don't have time for it, download it anyway and give it to your
kids to play with. If you have some fourteen year olds sitting around
grousing about being bored, here is something for them to do. If you
are lucky, they'll have their own content company in action before
they get out of high school. Could save you some serious 'natch when
they get to college. ;-)
