Michael Leventhal had a nice discussion in his Extreme presentation about how interplay between vendors and analysts seems to drive those ever-upward curves about adoption. I'm not sure what would qualify as a good source of information; personally I find conferences a critical source of admittedly anecdotal but very helpful information.
