Experience has exposed the pretense that colonification is not syntax (as in including ':' among name-start characters and blithely suggesting that namespaced stuff can be treated as if they weren't there.) | Adding processing rules and constraints over and above the Namespaces | spec hasn't been a winning approach in my experience - the singe | exception being the elimination of the default namespace. "Default namespace" was an integral part of the pretense. Time to give it up.
