I'm very happy about public identifiers this morning since I'm writing a bit of code that uses Norm Walsh's catalog code to sort out DTDs (must... have... entities) in documents with lots of different system identifiers but shared public identifiers. Sure, that could have been URIs, but how many layers of those do we need?
