One of these days at a markup conference someone will give a
presentation and an SGML guru will stand up and say "wow, that's a
completely new concept.  SGML and its users never thought of anything
like that."

I look forward to it happening, but have to admit that I have doubts.
The "great gains in efficiency" and changes in approach suggest that the
reinvention process is not a total loss, however.

And JITTs look fascinating, and Patrick Durusau's on-stage conversation
with a real live tree at Extreme Markup was unforgettable!
