Nothing, provided you don't expect the whole world to use your
semantics.  In a smaller scope than "all XML", you're welcome to do
whatever you like with such things.  

Pretend that it applies beyond the boundaries of your particular
application, and I think you've made an enormous mistake.  Encourage
others to make the same mistake, and the mistakes grow, even coming with
tools to encourage their multiplication.
