Or that an extraordinary amount of disk space and CPU time 
will be exhausted handling metadata.

Simulation and Being There just aren't the same.

Still, DARPA got us the Internet.  Incubating technology 
means seeding fertile ground and plowing the fallow.  It 
will be interesting to see how far this one gets.

That someone spent too much time watching 2001 A Space Odyssey or more likely Terminator, and omitted consideration of the small detail that these are works of fiction.
