Really, now. How hard can this type stuff be, anyway?  I know, for instance,
just by looking at it that:

13400
is a number, and

s 
is a character, and

caddr 
is a string (unless it is an instruction for some weird language; but still
a string, right?), and

ABC12 
is a string (or, er, maybe a hex number, but nobody really uses those), and

3.1E-23 
is a, um, ... uh, ...  number?  


Oh hell.
