I was just poking around the Unicode site and reading about the 
beta of Unicode 3.2.  There's one very nice addition - a 
new character WORD JOINER (U+2060) which has the semantics
of the ZERO-WIDTH NON-BREAKING SPACE (aka Byte Order Mark),
deprecating the ZWNBS leaves FEFF as just the BOM. Good 
thinking.  Mind you, XML 1.1 as proposed would allow this
puppy to appear as a Name character :)  -Tim
