The latest RTF spec (1.7), updated for Word 2002, is at :
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/release.asp?ReleaseID=32443

You can do just about anything in RTF, just be extra careful to
follow the spec (and then some) because Word has an unfortunate tendency to
crash on malformed RTF files.
