In trying to help alleviate the under-documented state of XUpdate, I've
posted a set of use cases that illustrate the basic operations. http://www.
xmldatabases.org/projects/XUpdate-UseCases/ The examples are fairly basic
still, but I'll include more in depth examples as they become available.
If you're using XUpdate and have some ideas to contribute please let me
know.

For those who aren't familiar with it. XML:DB XUpdate[1] is an update
language for XML documents that allows you to declaratively specify
document modifications with an XML syntax. It greatly simplifies the
process of modifying XML documents. The XUpdate project has been pretty
stagnant for a while and could use some input to move it forward. XUpdate
is mainly intended to fill the gap for an update language until W3C XQuery
provides a more widely standardized language at some distant point in the
future. XUpdate has been around for a little over a year and is
implemented in Lexus[2], Ozone[3], dbXML[4] and 4Suite[5].
