And once you have the answer to how much validation is possible, 
you have to know where and when that is possible.  For example,  
does a handheld have the resources needed to use XML Schema 
validation?

Schemas are a lynchpin of services as I understand them.  If so, 
how and where to apply them and where the environment 
enables them to be applied is good stuff to know before one 
sits down to build a cell phone app.  For instance, can anyone 
tell me which devices support IE5.5 and which require me to 
default to less powerful frameworks?   Is it a good idea 
to rely on Schemas for field level validation (say when 
tabbing out of the field (no, but it's an interesting question))? 

Even better... Schematron assertions or fieldNameValue=this code?
