"Will marketing hype kill off the intelligent development of XML?"

Yes, thank God. We must give up trying to adopt and
understand engineering requirements, formal methods, and
contract-constrained development and return to the
good old days of requirements so open no one knows
what the goals are, religious adherence to the
proclamations of popular personalities, and furthermore
that ultimate dictum of all web systems, "if it doesn't
have a URL, it doesn't exist".

Ah yes, 1993 to 2000: life before the bomb was intelligent.

Not.
