They documented it to make Jon and the 
rest of the SGMLers shut up.  Unfortunately for the W3C, 
it works just as you describe.  :-)

Yes, you're right. What i meant was more like "The W3C mad XML because
they wanted a tool to allow them to work towards replacing HTML pages with
seperate data and presentation layers"
