The trick is making sure his answer is 
reliably documented with his name on it.  
Not just consultants, but any work 
contracted for.  And also, have a 
lawyer read it.  That IS what they 
are good for.  Right tool for the 
right job...

Any consultant should ask his client, "Okay, but what do you *really* 
want?" a minimum of three times before beginning any project.  (Not that 
I'm about to do that in my own practice, of course - the trick is doing it 
diplomatically.)
