Am I missing something here? Why would it
be desirable to reform XPath into XML? 
What problem would this address?

Would the following XSLT select attribute:

   select="child::foo/attribute::bar"

get recast into this:

   select='<attribute name="bar"><child
name="foo"><contextNode /></child></attribute>'

Why no just advocate getting rid of attributes
altogehter?
