aha! perhaps that is the problem...

I've tested http://www.rddl.org/ against
http://www.stg.brown.edu/service/xmlvalid/ but note, warnings need to be
turned off given the large number of DTD defaulted namespace declarations in
XHTML Basic. RDDL does validate though.
