  Happy New Year,

For those wondering why XPointer wasn't granted Proposed
Recommendation status, the reason an be found in the
publication of a second XPointer Last Call Working Draft:

    - XML Pointer Language (XPointer) Version 1.0
W3C Last Call Working Draft 8 January 2001
      http://www.w3.org/TR/2001/WD-xptr-20010108/

This second Last Call has been made necessary by a change required
to XPointer to insure that URI References built using XPointer are
context independant. This specific addition is detailed in section 5.2.1
of this XPointer Working Draft.

   http://www.w3.org/TR/2001/WD-xptr-20010108/#ns-context

The Last Call review period ends 29 January 2001. Please send review
comments before that date to www-xml-linking-comments@w...
(archives [1]).
