Dan is welcome to his opinion, but when stated in that way, that's all
it is: his opinion. It's _not_ W3C policy to deprecate DTDs: indeed
the XML Schema WG decided to provide a DTD for XML Schema precisely
because they recognised their continuing utility. My crystal ball is
cloudier than Dan's: I hope a lot of people use XML Schema for a lot
of things real soon, but I don't foresee or even advocate the
disappearance of DTDs any time soon.
