Correction to my earlier post based on feedback from 
the MS members here.  The validateOnParse 
value is set to false by design based on feedback 
from users.  There is an MSDN article at 

http://support.microsoft.com/support/kb/articles/Q239/5/40.ASP

that explains this and how to set it to true 
and a downloadable component 
at msdn.microsoft.com/xml that allows you to perform 
validation via a menu item. 

Thanks for the quick feedback and my apologies if 
I've spread myths about the product.

And its XDR not XML-DR. :-)
