Yes.  As with newsgroups, it's annoying to send a personal reply to
something in one's personal mail, only to discover later when reading
the list that it was also sent there.

[While we're on etiquette, can I moan about people who start new
topics in the middle of existing threads?  Messages with completely
irrelevant In-Reply-To or References headers often get junked along
with their containing thread when people do this.  I'm not writing
this in response to any particular example; it's something that's
bugged me for ages but I didn't want to start a new thread for ;)]
