I suspect that Don is simply comparing the fine service that SML-DEV has
gotten from eGroups.com with the abysmal service that XML-DEV has gotten
from OASIS. This should be a technical matter of finding the right hosting
service for the XML-DEV community, not some deep philosophical matter of
unity and fragmentation.

It's very simple. All people have to do is "crosspost" to
xml-dev@l... and xml-dev-temp@e... and subscribe to
whichever they prefer. This is not exactly rocket science with modern mail
tools. Then there's no fragmentation, bluster, tearing down, etc. ....
we'll see which back end can really handle the traffic and archiving, and
let the best one win.

If OASIS can REALLY get their act together, great. If not, it's really no
great burden to stop posting to xml-dev@l... after giving
OASIS a few weeks to try and make it work properly.
