My application TextPipe is a Windows based stream editor (much like Unix 'sed' but far more powerful). It also rolls up lots of other Unix commands like head, tail, grep, perl's regexp's, dos2ux, ux2dos etc. Use it to prepend an XML schema to each file, and perform multiple pattern match search/replaces to modify the HTML to standard XML. Obviously the structure doesn't have to be standard HTML for you to manipulate it with TextPipe. The Trial run facility lets you interactively play with the filters until you get the desired result to apply to your files.
