A hack and a convenience feature, true, but damn convenient.  Particularly
when you've just invented a new xml-based language and are writing the
documentation and want to paste in examples.  Which is admittedly not a
high-volume use-case, but one that nearly every early adopter has to deal
with.

Having said all that, it is indeed a hack. -Tim
