Common notations such as DATE or URL are supported in the XML-DR schema
notation in the Microsoft  MSXML parser, and are also part of the schema
activity at the W3C.  See http://msdn.microsoft.com/xml/default.asp and
http://www.w3.org/XML/Activity.html.
