I am looking for the existing standards for mailing addresses. 
What is the EDIFACT, X12 or X.500 standard for a mailing address? 
Are there others I should be asking about?

It seems every database has a different way of creating a mailing address.
It would be nice to establish a default (rather than endorsed) standard for
putting mailing addresses in XML data stores.
