Hi,

I have a (probably self-inflicted) problem with sx converting
German/French sgml documents. 
All the 8-bit characters: ä (ä), ö(ö), and ü(ü), and the
capital versions are all being converted to the same output string:
"�".

If I convert the 8-bit characters to the entity equivalents they are
ignored and are not outputted to my target document.

I have set the system variables as per the documentation, but no luck.

Any help would be appreciated.
