OASIS Universal Business Language 1.0
UBL Introduction
The Universal Business Language, or UBL, standard is a unifying standard
that attempts to bridge the many business-to-business document standards. It builds on
the work of xCBL, X12, EDIFACT,
ebXML, and others.
The Stylus Studio UBL Zone is a collection of documentation, empty and template
UBL XML documents, and pointers to the official standard. The OASIS working group charged with
maintaining the UBL standard has a
web site.
For users of Stylus Studio,
starting with version 6 release 3 build 377n, the UBL schemas and catalog are included. A
project file, including all of the schemas and catalogs together, can be downloaded as
ubl.zip.
In the following sections, the links are categorized as follows:
- Filled Examples are sample XML files, generated from the schemas, with sample content. They will validate.
- No Content are sample XML files, generated from the schemas, but with no sample content. They will not validate, but can instead serve as templates.
- With URLs means that the schemas are referred to by their absolute path, with a host of http://docs.oasis-open.org/.
- Without URLs means that the schemas are referred to by a local filename only. In either case, the supplied UBL OASIS catalog includes entries to resolve the schemas properly.
- Complete Schemas include the documentation and comments, which are useful for learning, adapting, and development.
- Runtime Schemas are stripped of documentation, for better parsing performance in production environments.
